Initial Days of Career

1. Make a Best Friend

    Everyone who works with you are not your friends, they are your colleagues. Surprisingly you do spend almost of one third of your life at your work place. Every one needs a friend who is with you the moment you need, who can be trusted undoubtedly. Your family do not know your work place and its policy to understand it's problems and frustrations. Your College friends and childhood friends do not know your colleagues to understand the jokes and fun related to work place. Have a best friend at your work place. 

2. Find a Mentor

    I said Mentor, not the boss. Your boss can be your mentor but there might be vested interest in their suggestions. Mentor can be your college senior, old colleague, someone who believes in you, ready to spend time with you to help you with showing the path of your choices. A friend who is cool to spend a quality time with you without any hidden agenda. Find a mentor who has experienced personally about the path you want to take. If you have any decisions to be made about your career about higher studies, changing the domain, switching the job, Mentor do not influence your decision, just helps you to make your own decision with additional information.

3. Find a Guide

    Guide is to provide you with step by step training and process to follow in your day to day work. Most of the workplaces, your Team Lead will be the guide and unfortunately you won't get the amount of discrete training and support. If you find one, do make use of them effectively. Get the training materials, read through, understand the details, clarify if any doubts, make a presentation of your understanding, this is just for your quick reference. nobody remembers everything from the first time. Self Guide is the best and fastest way to grow.

4. Build your Resume

   Do not work for impressing anyone or just to meet the deadlines. Work for yourself aligning company's goal to your passion. Becoming an expert in a particular domain will make you a specialist in the field. At the same time, obtaining skills on multiple domain keeps your career options wide. Work on everything you understand and likes to pursue.

5. Pick a Sport

    Have a recreational activity, a small game to break your routine and rejuvenate you. Find a partner to play some sport. Forget work for a while and have some fun. Do it regularly, but not at the cost of increasing your workload.

6. Ask what you want
    Raise your voice to ask what you deserve. You just have to ask once, the moment you feel you are not getting what you deserve, you know you are in the wrong place and you need to take the necessary steps to be in the right place.

7. Stay away from Office Politics

    It's true office politics exists and everybody knows and some people feels its the only way to grow. Stay away from them as well, else you will be used as a pawn and bait for their convenience. Do not say anything about you and your plans to them, do not show interest in what they are trying to influence you with. Treat them as some printer and coffee machine in office. Talk to them only if it's official.

8. Avoid Office Relationships

    It's very tempting and fantasizing to have office romance. You will find many attractive people and you will have crush on many. You wish to be in the team of your crush and try to adjust your lunch and break timings according to your potential mate. This disturbs your work and you are constantly looking out for the opportunities to meet them and spend time with them. If it is not mutual, you will spoil your image. If it's mutual, still you spoil your image. Let me put it straight, Office is your work place, not a marriage bureau or dating site. 

Confused or Conned !!!

"You just finished schooling, you are confused. You should take professional course"

"You just finished the graduation, you are confused. You should go for higher studies"

"You just started your work, you are confused. You should work 2 years before going for higher studies"

"You just started your career, you are confused. You need to become expert in domain before switching the job"

"You just finished your masters, you are confused . You should go to research instead of working"

"You just finished MBA, You are confused. You should gain work experience before starting up your own venture"

I am sure most of us heard at least one of these expert advices and convinced ourselves that may be we are confused. 

Are you really confused about your life?

At the same time, we will be hearing the following

"You just started your professional course, you are responsible. You should pursue your passion"

"You just finished your graduation, you are responsible. You should build your career"

"You just started your work, you are responsible. You should be joining coaching classes for higher studies"

"You just started your career, you are responsible. You need to be versatile and learn different domains"

"You just finished your masters, you are responsible. You should get into best company for work"

"You just finished your MBA, you are responsible. You should start your own comapny"

Now we are confused and responsible. 

We have been told to follow contradicting theories.

Whatever decision we take is wrong because we are confused.

We should not change our decision because we are responsible.

We are confused, so we just have to do what we have been told.

We are responsible, so we should not do what we wish to do.

Again i ask are we really confused?

Infinite Love

After the hectic Day of work, i just want to spend a couple of hours with you. This hour of togetherness makes me forget everything and takes me to a different Universe entirely. The moment i enter my home, your true Smile of Happiness just to see me is priceless. Your Smile makes me feel i am very special and reassures me that there is someone genuinely looking forward to see me. Just a Smile tells me millions of words about how much you love. 

I am talking about my niece. Such a beautiful little angel she is. She is just 2.5 years. She runs to me as fast as she can calling me with a magical smile the moment she sees me. She demands my full attention and i would rather be with her completely than anywhere else. She tells me about how much she searched for me whole day and she knew that i will come and get chocolates. 

She wants to play with me as if i am her doll. She calls me her doll and wants to make my hairs the way her mother makes her. she wants to feed me food and  tell me story and make me sleep. She will not tolerate anyone talking bad about me or scolding me. she goes to an extent of hitting others who make fun of me. Her innocence and the infinite Love she shows has no match. I even forget i am older and she is just a small kid. All i want to be her doll and let her play with me. 

I don't remember any problem in the Life. All the pain just fades away. Heart and soul fills with only happiness. Sometimes she even waits till late night just to play with me. She wants me to be in front of her eyes till she falls asleep. The Trust she shows is unbeatable, no matter who says what about me, she backs me up. The kind of Trust and Love kids show are truly amazing. She loves to pose for the camera. She is ready as soon as the camera ready.

As soon as she wakes up, she will come in search of me and wakes me up like i am small kid. She just wants to sit on my lap quietly. She feels the comfort and safety in my hands. She holds me so tight, she doesn't want me let go to work. I call her the princess. She flaunts and tells everyone that she is my princess and takes pride in that. When i am not there, she pretend to talk to me in a dummy phone. if she gets hold off real one, she will find out the contacts and call me by clicking at my photo.

Every second of togetherness with you is something which i do not want to miss at any cost.

The most loving place is my house which lets me spend my time together with you.

My House Journey

The Journey which i am going to talk about is not to reach any geographical location. This Journey of mine is more of my mind exploring its new potentials. Being a Leo, most of the times, i am extra confident. Yes extra confident, not over confident. Always confident in education, career, family, love and relationship. When it comes to start something new, before even knowing what all it takes to make it happen, i just feel confident that i will do it no matter what it takes. Along with this confidence, i will be in a fear of not able to achieve what i started. This fear of failure is the main reason most of the people are scared of starting anything new. For me this fear helps me in retaining my focus till the end goal. This fear is helpful once started a new life. But how do i overcome this fear which stops the decision itself.

Let me take an example. I wanted to buy a new house. I don't have sufficient money to buy in one shot. I was not aware of Home Loan process and complications. I was not aware of the legal documents required and verified before buying the House.

Now comes the Fear of Failure. Failures are nothing but not able to buy the house within planned schedule or being cheated or losing money or spending too much. Steps to overcome the initial fear is define the Target Date to achieve your Goal. As most of my decisions, i will look for a special occasion. This time i targeted my birthday. I had 2 month time. Second step is  to announce your target and the deadline. Once it is done, the same fear which is stopping from starting will help in executing what i have started. 

Now while achieving the target within the time frame. I followed a simple flow by breaking up the journey into sub tasks and linking each sub task as the trigger and gating item to the next task. Such as choosing on the location, fixing on the budget, options of the bank for Loan, deciding on the house and documentation.

Everything i mentioned till now is just planning. Planning is as important as execution. Execution without plan leads to dead ends sometimes. Irrespective of best planning, there will be issues and hurdles while actual execution. So anticipate the issues and include some alternate options in every sub task. Issues which i faced were i had to compromise on the location which increased 1 km distance from the ideal requirement and increase in budget to certain extent. Option of Bank changed to meet the deadline. So always be flexible to adapt to the situation and modify or update the plan without losing track of end goal.

Most of these things may be routine and can be achieved by most of you. For me, it was more of journey of my mind because every process and interaction with strangers and decision making with limited knowledge and resources is the work of mind. 

And I achieved my target on my birthday and during the same time i had to start my journey to a different geographical location as well, which i did successfully. Journey started in a mind with a thought and going on in my new House.
